Coral Frag Caddy holds frags for reef shows

21

This is the Coral Frag Caddy. It is quite popular to go to reef shows and browse the livestock that is on display specifically with corals. Most people use several bags or might even use Rubbermaid type containers to put their livestock in as they race home ready to put it in their quarantine tank. But the Coral Frag caddy takes a different approach and allows you to put more then one frag in a “coral bucket”. The best part of all this is there are multiple trays in the bucket which allow you to put a bunch of corals including different sized ones as all the holes are not the same diameter. And yes the trays all fit on top of each other inside the bucket.  The Coral Frag Caddy w/ 4 acrylic frag trays retails for only $42.18.

This is a really good idea! I have seen coral vendors packing up at the trade shows with innumerable home made systems which approximated this but now that a traveling frag rack is being made for resale I am sure it will be a matter of time before others are making them too, and evolving the design.

The downside to this however, is if you want to transport your corals in this you’ll need a lot of water which translates to heavy ass frag bucket!

Mike one bucket is probably lighter than 100 frags in individual containers. lol

True Ian, but with 100 individual containers, you can make multiple trips to the car :D

Talk about a limited Total-Addressable-Market… Really, great idea and product but how many of these can a company expect to sell?

Mike, if you’re not used to carrying 5 gallon buckets full of water, you’re probably not a reef keeper.

@ah30k “how many of these can a company expect to sell?”

Frag selling and trading events are as big as ever and the company can expect to sell quite a bit of these frag caddies. There will be nearly 20 coral vendors at ReefStock alone this weekend. Each one can bring enough frag to use several of the Frag Caddy buckets. Multiply that by all the regional events in the country and those sales could add up.

Would be great to see “nano” versions in the 2.5 gallon range…get rollers and a friction-driven generator for heat and aeration and you have the envy of the show ;)

    I think there should be a build-off for hottest frag-carrying apparatus :)

How about a combination frag caddy AND display tank; no need to even take the corals out of the case. Now that would be a showstopper.
