Sunset Marine Labs outs the Neo Cube 35 all-one-one jellyfish tank, with fun light-mixing remote

By on Apr 13, 2010

Sunset Marine Labs has been working in the jellyfish business since 1996 mainly dealing with public aquariums and other public installations but had their coming out party to the hobbyist this weekend at MAX. The company was displaying their turnkey Neo Cube 35 system prototype that has everything you need to have a sexy and thriving jellyfish display making it simple to enjoy the graceful beauty of the jellyfish. Plus with customizable color LED lighting underneath the tank, you can create a rainbow of rotating color options to mesmerize yourself and family.

The complete system includes pump, chiller to keep it a cool 64 degrees, UV filter, mechanical filtration, stand and sump. These babies come ready to go, just add water and jellyfish! The lighting system comes with a cool remote control with quick color options and the ability to manually “mix” your own favorite color. An interesting note, neo is Latin for “spin” and also pays homage to the term kreisel used in rearing delicate specimens. These are really beautiful setups and will make quite a conversation piece in your home. Expect these ready for the market later this year with an MSRP around $3,000. Sunset Marine also has a great frozen food for your jellies. The food is small enough for the jellyfish to consume and is neutrally buoyant so it will stay in the water column and not collect on the bottom and provide all the nutrients needed.

    That’s awesome!

But am I missing something, that looks square to me? then there’s a picture of a kreisel after that…

Austin. It is square but on the inside of the tank there are blocks to keep the water movement going upwards and around “spinning” so the jellies don’t get caught up in the corners.

The kreisel was there showing some of the lifestage development of the jellies. They had another rearing container too of much smaller ones. I am very impressed with what Nancy has done with these wonderful critters.

The jellies were pretty active and was definitely a crowd favorite especially with the kids.

Guess you missed the point then as I wasn’t bashing or saying anything negative. I was just pointing out you can get that for your tank off the shelf :)
