We love being able to use our everyday technology in the fish room, around our tanks and even take it to the beach so we were pleased to learn about the LifeProof cases that turns your iPhone into a waterproof device that even lets you use it underwater.

Not only will it protect you from everyday spills and mishaps but the LifeProof is also rated IP-68 meaning it is dustproof and can be immersed in water beyond a meter and still work. The sleek case for the first and second generation iPhone 4/4S phones adds a mere 1/16 in. to your case and only weights 28g.

As we see in the introduction video, the LifeProof case is tested to work up to 2 meters below the surface so you could easily get some in-tank shots or even take it snorkeling. Using the optional waterproof headphones, you can even listen to music while playing Jacques Cousteau. The case also uses a double AR-coated optical glass lenses to ensure you get crystal-clear photo and video quality.

The LifeProof cases still let you use all the buttons and features of your phone so it is slim and unobtrusive enough to use everyday but durable enough for some harsh environments. The LifeProof case runs $69.95 and there is even an iPad 2 version in development.

Thanks for the tip Phillip!

Make sure to post a review of it here, on TONMO or elsewhere. I’m curious how usable the touchscreen is through the case.

Just make sure to have a strap on it, because your public aquarium might be a bit deeper than the 2 meters that this is test to.

That said, wonder how deep it is good for.

They need to make one for my Motorola Bionic so I could mess around with it like that. A phone that cost ya an arm and a leg like the iPhone but at least it runs 4G.
