Exclusive first look at the limited edition black and metal JBJ Unibody LED light

14

The stealthy reef light pictured above is a limited edition black version of the JBJ unibody reef LED light. With a black anodized body made entirely out of aluminum and an brushed aluminum cover the limited edition JBJ Unibody LED looks like it could double as a small shield in hand-to-hand combat.

For now the black limited edition JBJ Unibody is a one of a kind, but in the future JBJ may produce more of these, strictly in limited numbers and promotional use, like the contest we’ll be posting up next week for you to win this light which we have in our possession right, now! Big thanks to J. Vincent Ciotti for the incredible photograph, now what kind of contest do you think we should run to give this light away?

How about you pick someone that will use it and document it for here.  It should only be people that have a great use for it and will take photos and add updates about the light and tank over time, like every 3-4 months.  I just setup a 20″ starfire cube that will mainly be an SPS tank and I will only be adding aquacultured fish and coral.  I just finished setting it up a week ago.  So far, I only have a really cool rock structure (bought it from The Alternative Reef at MACNA last year.  Really great guy with great products, but I don’t think he sells the big rock structures other than at trade shows, but I’m not sure.  He mostly make really cool rock structures with magnets so you can use it on the glass, kind of like a frag rack) that was seeding with two tiny pieces of live rock from my other tank for more than a year (I have been trying to setup this tank for over a year, but moving and other things, i.e. laziness, delayed things.
This light would look great on my tank and matches everything perfectly.  I built the stand.  It has 3 panels that are held on by magnets.  The two sides are black and the center panel is made from nice wood flooring that my buddy had leftover, but I also have some nice ebony macassar veneer that I will eventually use for the front panel, even though it already looks great.  I have a friend that owns a big welding company and had him make me a light stand that I spray-painted with spray-on truck liner.  I also had a custom sump (16″x16″) built with a section for top-off water that will be hooked up to an ATO that I will be hooking up to a small kalk reactor.

    All I need is a light…

Seriously, this black version would match my tank perfectly.  It would look incredible.  Either way, I think you guys should choose from people like myself that will put it to use immediately and will be glad to take pics and give updates on the tank and light every few months.  I almost think you should make it mandatory that whoever wins it actually uses it instead of selling it, which I’m sure a lot of people would do.  If they don’t send in pics and updates of it being used over their tank, they should be forced to give it back so that it will make it’s way to someone who will.  I love seeing tank & growth updates

Nice, trying to sell yourself… not much of a contest.
“GIVE IT TO ME, I AM THE ONLY ONE WORTHY; I PROMISE TO MAKE IT WORTH YOUR WHILE”

You are no more deserving of this light than the next reefer with nothing but a 30 gal with an HOB filter.

Instead of just giving away the light…how about an auction or raffle with all the proceeds going to a good cause…we should all be thankful that we even have tanks to be lit by this light and gives us an opportunity to give back to the ocean that we have taken much from…

You’re right, I was trying to sell myself.  Do you blame me?  After all, it would look great on my tank, and I’d rather get a nice light like that for free than have to buy one.

Where you’re wrong is everything else.  Your summation of what I wrote is especially wrong.  In absolutely no way do I feel that “I AM THE ONLY ONE WORTHY,” or that I am more deserving than everyone else.  I don’t see how you can make such an inference.  Did I offend you because I think it should go to someone that can put it to good use and document everything for us?  Was it because I don’t want somebody to win it, just to sell it and make some money instead of actually using it.  I think a 30 gal w/ a HOB filter is a great use for it.  Why wouldn’t it be?  That seems like a perfect light for a tank of that size.  I simply said that I think they should make it mandatory that whoever wins this light has to take photos and give updates over time, basically a long-term review of the light; it’s pro’s, it’s con’s, coral growth pics, etc.  I think that would be good for both ReefBuilders and JBJ.  I’ll state it again, I love seeing tank & growth updates and is one of the reasons I am subscribed to so many different threads on the different reef forums.  I don’t know what I said that caused you to basically infer that I am an elitist or so arrogant that I feel that I am more deserving than anyone else.  If you actually know me, you would realize that couldn’t be further from the truth.  I am offended by your comments because you didn’t seem to understand what I was trying to say and came to some wrong conclusions and decided to go on the offensive and try to paint me in a bad light.  That didsn’t have to be inferred, you directly said it.  The only thing that I think might have been a little offensive was saying that I would hate for the light to go to somebody that simply plans on selling it and making some money.  I willing to bet that ReefBuilders & JBJ would probably agree.  Again, I don’t know what I said that caused you to get your panties in a bunch, but I apologize for whatever it was.
