By on Apr 24, 2012

We love free things and wanted to share a few of the cool contests going on at the moment. Right now Aquarium Specialty is giving away a Tunze 6095 for a lucky winner and Innovative Marine giving away an iPad along with a monthly NUVO aquarium contest. More details after the break.

Aquarium Specialty — The company has a great loyalty rewards program and to showcase it, they are hosting a giveaway contest now through May 31st for a Tunze 6095. To enter, you have to like them on Facebook and sign up for our monthly newsletter. Make sure you check out all the details on the entire loyalty program.

Innovative Marine — Besides having a monthly giveway of a NUVO aquarium for liking the company on Facebook, they are celebrating their anniversary by giving away two new iPads in the “My NUVO and Me” contest. How does it work? You have “Like” our Facebook Page and post a video on our wall of you and your NUVO Aquarium between now and June 30, 2012.

Another contest I can’t enter. :( I will not sign up on facebook for any reason. Why can’t companies just make their own websites and put contest on their own sites?

While I’m with you on the Facebook, gotta realize this is along the same lines of not having a credit card, while yeah you don’t need one but MANY things will be off limits as a result.

You could always set up a dummy account sepcificaly for these kind of promotions, contests and giveaways – and even link it back to a dummy email.

Besides contests like these, can you name 1 other thing that is “off limits” by not having a facebook account? I can’t think of any myself in all seriousness.

But I did have it explained to me by someone else, and it made some sense. When you “like” something on facebook, all your friends then see that you “like” something, even if you really don’t like it and just did it for a contest. So it is free advertising for companies, although I think that is a shady way of doing it myself but to each their own.

My point was companies should do these on their own websites so they don’t exclude anyone, the way they are doing it now they are excluding quite a large amount of people. Maybe not the majority, but pretty close.

So your are suggesting we should violate Facebooks TOS just to be able to enter a contest?

    Shameless Self Promotion:
Proaquatix also has a Monthly Give Away of Designer Clownfish. On Facebook of course… :-) (Sorry CaliReefer)  It’s not too late to sign up for April!

JBJ is also giving away a limited edition Unibody Wifi on their Facebook page just for a like, and I think something on their twitter too.
