New Coral RX One-Shot glass vials

By on Jun 14, 2012

Coral RX is now introducing one-shot glass vials of their famous concoction that should be available soon. These one-shot vials from Coral RX have been sealed with nitrogen to keep their contents fresh and ready when you need them most.  Coral RX, the runaway success of dipping your corals to kill things like Acro Eating Flatworms is introducing a new type of packaging. Until now customers had the option to purchase Coral RX in glass bottles with their accompanying glass droppers. Unscrewing the cap and lid might take longer than usual and some customers did not prefer to do the common maintenance this way. However, with the new one-shot vials you have other options in your arsenal of killing Acro Eating Flatworms. These one shot glass vials of Coral RX should begin shipping later this year with a retail price that has not been announced yet. Did you hear that? That is the sound of flatworms screaming everywhere.

They have always offered a one shot version in a plastic twist off version of CoralRX.  I don’t think I like the glass over the plastic though

Seems wasteful to me.  Are people that much in a rush they cant measure out a dose with a dropper, then screw it back on?

Bit of a gimmick and it runs the risk of glass shards breaking off. I think the tech term would be ampule for this type of container.

I think this is a great idea. LFS can throw in a small vial with any customers buying some fresh new wild corals or species that are prone to certain parasites.

Wouldn’t make more sense for the LFS sales staff to do their jobs and SELL their customers a bottle of a product they should have on hand anyway?

But they already could with the plastic ones… which did seem to leak at least smell so this will be an improvement over that.

Is our hobby so profoundly lazy that we need a must-have product to be spoon fed to us?

+1. This is completely old news and my LFS has had the one shots of CoralRX in plastic for quite some time. That was overly priced and did not make sense, cannot see that glass is going to make it any better.

Bayer insecticide seems to work better than many of the “leading” coral dips anyways. Also, have full polyp extension in no time and price is much cheaper than CoralRX/Revive/Lugol’s although I still use all four during my 5 week QT period for new frags.

They should sell it in shot glasses. THAT would be cool :D

Usually chemical companies place their chemicals in these one shot glass ampules when the contents are prone to degrade under ambient conditions. Never used the stuff and don’t know what is in it but packaging it like this tells me there maybe some concern that contents do not have a stable shelf life when exposed to normal atmosphere hence the need for nitrogen flushing. I have used these types of ampules a lot in my research lab and there is usually never any glass shards, so I wouldn’t be concerned with that. Also plastic doesn’t always prevent diffusion of gases into the container so that might be why they switched to glass.

No everyone needs a full bottle. I’ve been to a few stores that sell the small packets. For me they were great as give-aways at a local conference I host. What not a better way to get people hooked then give them a free dose? ;)
