Adee’s Sunlit Reef is Looking Even Better With LEDs

We covered Adee’s sunlight driven reef back in January, when it was still supplemented with 1500 watts of metal halide and T5 power. Since then Adee replaced his Metal Halide and T5 line up with 400 watt of LED. Although it hard to imagine, his tank now looks even better than it did before. The new LED lights truly manage to bring out some popping fluorescent coral colors that sunlight alone was not able to.

Adee started off with three 100 watt Orphek DIF100XP LED  fixtures on his sunlight powered reef but recently added another fixture for better coverage, totaling 400 watt (instead of the previous 1500 watt). Because of less heat output Adee is now able to run the fixtures year round, and due to the small footprint of the fixtures the tank still receives a lot of sunlight. Keep reading for more pictures, and be sure to check out his build thread.

That is a very VERY beautiful aquarium, and fantastic to see someone using natural light in combination with other sources.
