Bubble King Deluxe skimmer gets upgraded for its 10 year anniversary

Royal Exclusiv has been the bleeding edge of technology, design, and craftsmanship of high end protein skimmers for a long time now, with the Bubble Kind Deluxe line being the flagship protein skimmer for the line. For ten years the Bubble King Deluxe 250 has been the Rolls Royce of protein skimmers and whether you have ever used one or never seen on, many technical innovations have been ‘borrowed’ and built into tens of thousands of protein skimmers since.

Like the Vortech MP40, the 10 year anniversary is a great time to revisit a design and give an already iconic product a design and performance refresh which is what Royal Exclusiv is aiming for with the new and improved Bubble King Deluxe 250. The BK Deluxe 250 now comes standard with the illustrious, all German-made and all titanium Red Dragon 3 Speedy adjustable DC pump.

Royal Exclusiv spared no expense when it came to designing and building the Red Dragon 3 Speedy and it shows with this pumps’ nearly untouchable efficiency, high performance and extremely quiet operation. Furthermore, the Red Dragon 3 is both adjustable and externally controllable with an aquarium computer like the Apex making the new BK Deluxe 250 one of the very few remote-controlled protein skimmers available on the market today.

Royal Exclusiv introduced the bubble diffuser plate over a decade ago and they truly championed the concept of reduced turbulence for improved protein skimming during a time when skimmer were little more than a tube of saltwater foam. The Bubble King Deluxe line is far from the first to use a DC needle wheel pump, or a controllable one, but it is the first to use an all titanium body and to be networkable with popular aquarium controllers.

The BK Deluxe is rated for tanks up to 2,000 liters, about 500 gallons, and it can draw a maximum of 2,000 liters while sipping a meager 50 watts of power. $2,000 is a lot to pay for a protein skimmer but if history is any indication, this is the model that will influence a whole new generation of high performing foam fractionators.
