The Sky Blue and Red Sun T5 lamps from UVL are the newest colors to be added to the palette of the veteran fluorescent lamp manufacturer. The high output T5 lamp is still the dominant lighting form factor of choice for the average reef aquarist so it’s no wonder that UVL is continuing to crank out new T5 lamp colors. The Red Sun has started distributing to some dealers who are still unsure as to why anyone would want to use just red light, but with many frag collectors choosing to have an acid-trip color scheme on their reefs, the red is just there to help accentuate the tracers. The Sky Blue T5 lamp that UVL showed off at MACNA was a manufacturing sample so there is not yet any spectral data for it, but UVL’s promised it to us once they have it.
