2016 has been an incredible year for new reef aquarium products, and we’ve reported on many new releases at most of our hobby’s major events. With InterZoo well behind us and MACNA having come and gone, there’s still a few products which have been revealed, but which are not yet available.
We’ve selected five different products from five different companies which will be game-changers in their categories. Interestingly, four of these are water movers made of molded black plastic, and only one of these is an LED light. Needless to say, when these five unreleased products finally hit the market they will definitely raise the bar for comparable products, and for this reason we just can’t wait to take them for a spin on our own tanks.
Seachem Tidal Power Filter – It’s been a really long time since we’ve been excited about a power filter. However with the Tidal being the first aquarium filter from Seachem, and made by Sicce in Italy, the Seachem Tidal will usher in a new standard of performance and innovative features which will be excellent for both fresh and saltwater aquariums.
LupyLED The One LED light – What can we say about LupyLED’s first LED light which we haven’t already raved about? The first generation of The One LED will definitely be mostly for those aquarists without financial limitations but the ability to ‘paint with light’ is a vision of the future, and it is inevitable that some future LED aquarium lights will develop down a similar path.
Aqamai KPS Controllable Nano Pump- Hydor’s newest products have been teased since May and the KPS pump in particular will be a big deal when it finally arrives. There’s nothing revolutionary about it, but being able to wirelessly control a small, high performance nano pump for only $99 will be a paradigm shift for what we come to expect from future aquarium pumps.
Sicce SDC Syncra Pumps – What do you get when you take some of the hobby’s favorite return and protein skimmer pumps and make them even better? Well we don’t know yet because the SDC Syncra and PSK pumps from Sicce aren’t out yet but with full controllability, wireless adjustment and performance boosts across the board, we fully expect Sicce’s newest offerings to blow most other pumps out of the water.
Waveline Wavepuck Propeller Pump – The Wavepuck is the only pump on this list that has been on the burner for over a year. First teased at MACNA 2015, the Wavepuck is a radical new form factor which promises great performance and good value in a very low profile water mover, and we are beyond excited to test this pump when it finally comes out.
