Last week we showed you the Seadreams biological filter reactor, and alongside aquarium equipment, this artisanal Spanish manufacturer also creates complete reef systems. If you’re looking for a unique customizable aquarium, Seadreams might just well be the setup for you.
Each of their custom reef setups has a unique name paying homage to some of the world’s more iconic coral reefs. Past projects have been named (Sipadan, Queensland, Cozumel ..) and this time Seadreams has a small but mighty reef called the Maldives project.
The Maldives project reef tank is a 500x500x500 mm cube (around 125L or 33 gallons) made of 100% extra clear glass and transparent silicone with 45-degree bevel construction. The system has two overflows of 32 mm drops with Venturi regulation for silent and effective adjustment and a rise of 25 with a rotary eductor.
Integrated into the system is a custom charcoal look carbon fiber reef mount support for Ecotech Marine Radion Gen 5 xr15 pro light.
To the left of the project is a magnetic control panel with fill, temp, ph, all driven by the Ecotech Vectra s2 and mp10Qd pumps. There are also 4 easy reef dosing machines for dosing the system.
The lower area of the tank is a freshwater reservoir for auto top offs, and at the same time a reservoir of 4 dosing tanks for Triton Core7. The compartments are marked for additives and for maintenance, and the compartment slides out diagonally for easy filling.
The heart of the system has a 45 degree angled build sump with the integrated rocking seahorse logo, as a trademark of the brand. The entire project is focused on a predominantly white, black (carbon fiber) and orange look.
Inside the sump is a high-quality Ultra Reef ukb 160 skimmer, two box block reactors for biological filtration, a module for mechanical, double-acting filtration, a titanium earth discharge probe, a 100w titanium heater, the sensor of the micro autoaqua duo filling, control probes and a modified Vectra s2 pump to achieve a white look adjusted to the style of the project.
At the top of the sump is a tactile magnetic stirrer designed for the dosing of trace elements and feeding and a chaeto macro algae reactor with a carbon look, and the backlit Seadreams logo. All Seadreams systems have a clean with no visible cables or plumbing.
The entire Maldives project is controlled by home automation and wifi enabling you to control the aquarium remotely, from a mobile phone, tablet. The system can even be controlled by voice for routines such as maintenance etc.
Giving the voice command (hello Maldives) a tablet screen emerges from the back of the tank giving you 100% control of the aquarium, including additive control, test graphics, and consumption, as well as management of all Ecotech systems through the Mobius app.
To top it all off, the voice-controlled touch screen display even gives you the possibility to read Reef Builders articles! With the voice command (goodbye Maldives) the tablet will hide, turn off its screen and turn off the maintenance lights.
The Maldives aquarium sit on micro rolling wheels to be able to separate the tank from the wall without stopping circulation and for easy access to the electronic dry zone located at the back of the aquarium. The dry area features refrigerated caps engraved in colors with icons to recognize without a doubt which equipment connected in the system.
The most unique feature of the Maldives project is its lack of front leg support. This features make the sump and dosing system easy to access by not having anything in front of blocking the way.
The Maldives project aquarium is designed for micro species, small gobies, blennies etc. The water volume is perfect to enjoy the fantastic behaviors of these small fishes. This brand new tank is fitted with hand made aquascaping with a minimalist bonsai look with several heights but with a lot of shelter for future reef inhabitants.
