Rock Beauty angelfish may now be available as captive reared fish

Somewhere, someone is offering either captive bred or captive reared Rock Beauty angelfish, Holacanthus tricolor, and French angelfish, Pomacanthus paru. We’ve contacted all the usual suspects to track down the source of this exciting new availability but so far we’ve only come up empty. Anyone have a lead on where these Rock Beauty and French angels are coming from? Photo by FlickR user vivekk00.

Where can I find one ?

I don’t know where the CR rock beauties can be found but we’ll sure to be on the lookout if they do.

I am guessing RCT might know where they are coming from.

You can tell I was half asleep. RCT is working on pygmy angels. DUH

Although Frank of RCT might know, he’s not breeding any fish at the moment. hopefully we’ll see RCT back around and reproducing gorgeous fish in 2010.
Although they specialize in rare Centropyge sp., they also bred Apolemichthys arcuatus briefly: http://www.rcthawaii.com/angel/6.htm

The list had both the above angels and blue head wrasse. Most likely post larval collection and “breeder” is trying to pass them off as tank bred/captive bred.

Pretty interesting post. Couldn’t of written any better. Browsing this post reminds me of my old bud. He always kept speaking about this. I will forward this post to him. Am sure he will have a good chuckle. Thanks for sharing!
