Red Dragon II Titanium woes: Breaking Titanium Axles, rusted impellers

7 Leave a comment

You remember when Royal Exclusiv recalled their Red Dragon II pumps for quality control issues back in August of this year? Although the initial recall included only the 240 and 250 watt models were recalled, “every Red Dragon II Titanium pump will be affected”. Apparently some German users are having a high rate of pump impellers failing. Our German source sent us the above picture which shows a Red Dragon pump impeller that has been corroded/rusted to the point that makes the pump non operational. Also too the axles were sold as “unbreakable” (ala Titanium) with several of them reported to have broken as well (jump down below for pics). The pumps were made in China from Royal Exclusiv’s specifications, much how Apple’s products are all made in China. However, poor quality control procedures has contributed to this problem.

  1. What a shame pay all that money for an already overpriced product and that you still get shafted!!!

  2. lol @ shafted

  3. This is not help by the horrendous customer service and the failure to communicate professionally by Royal Exclusiv and Klaus Jansen.

It does indeed said “Made in Holland”. Yes, indeed!

  4. If you want a bigger shaft buy it with the ocean simulator controller.

    1 Red Dragon = 4 eheims or 5 sedras

  5. That is quality from china. Buy it cheap and sell it expensive.

  6. More crap from China. When will companies learn if you go to China your reputation will go down. There manufacturing is crap. They will have you pay for the tooling of the machines and turn around and use them to make additional product and sell it to someone else. They will copy your products and sell on their own. Stuff that is high end should never be made in China because will end up being low quality goods. This product is so expensive on top of it. They should never have a problem, ever. But then again this stuff is ego equipment not something that is needed.

  7. It’s dissapointing to see a compnay like Royal Exclusive to farm out their products to China. Dave is right about how the Chinese factories operate; it’s a lose-lose for the company and the consumer.

Good thing is, Royal Exclusive will stand behind their product and take care of their customers. That’s more you can say about the Chinese companies.
