Tek Light Ultra Elite runs true VHO T5 lamps and ballast

The Tek Light Ultra Elite and it’s VHO T5 tubes from Sunlight Supply may be nothing short of the next wave of high performance fluorescent lighting. The Tek Light Ultra Elite is loaded with VHO T5 ballasts to run true VHO T5 tubes at very high output; these aren’t some slightly sooped up HO tubes either they are redesigned form the ground up with stronger electrodes, stronger glass and a special beefed up layer of phosphors. The Tek Light Ultra Elite will also be rocking adjustable three watt blue LEDs which are too sparse to offer real actinic supplementation, but definitely strong enough to add some beautiful blue shimmer in a twilight or moonlighting phase. We’re still waiting on Sunlight Supply to load up the Tek Light Ultra Elite with the exotic VHO T5 fluorescent t00bs but in the meantime, enjoy these snippets of what features will be included with this high intensity VHO T5 light.

This looks like an awesome fixture, but I’m wondering about the sticker on the side. It says it operates at 216W (standard for a 4X54 T5HO), but above it says lamp with T5-VHO 95 Watt. Is each run at 95 W in a VHO mode? Can you switch back and forth? I do wish they at least doubled the amount of LEDs for better coverage. I also wonder if you can see the shimmer on top of the T5VHO.

*Matt, this particular fixture is just a prototype. The design is nearly complete but this was put together specifically for the show. The label is simply an oversight. Unfortunately, of the 8 lamps shipped via UPS, everyone of them was broken, they aren’t exactly something you can just pick up at your local LFS.. YET

You cannot switch this fixture back and forth. The ballasts are hard wired and the end caps are designed not to allow the use of a standard HO lamp. This will avoid the accidental overdriving of a standard HO lamp. You can see the shimmer along with the T5 VHO lamps, that was one of the design goals to create a shimmer effect on a T5 fixture.

Aqualux T5 VHO lamps are currently the only T5 VHO lamp available. They are available in 4 colors: White, Day, Blue, Actinic.
