Tunze Stream 6105 fix now available from Tunze, 24v jumper ups the flow to 3300gph

By on Sep 28, 2011

Tunze has been hard at work getting all the large Tunze Stream pumps flowing up to specification, and a simple fix is already available for the Stream 6105 propeller pump. Current owners of Tunze Stream 6105 in North America can now contact Tunze-USA requesting a 24 volt jumper to replace the previous 18 volt jumper which will increase the pump’s RPMs and the subsequent flowrate will be increased to 3300 gallons per hour.

To get a replacement jumper for your Tunze Stream 6105, contact Tunze USA via email (tunze at sbcglobal dot net) with your name, address and the model number of your power supply, either the 6101.240 or the 6105.240, as two power supplies have been used over the years. Tunze has further improved the flow of the Stream 6105 with a wider flow nozzle which will ship with all new Stream 6105 by the end of November, and a wide flow kit will be available separately for $30 about that time as well. Fixes for the Stream 6205 and 6305 are expected to become available towards the end of the year and around the time of InterZoo, respectively.

The real question—how much turbulence does this new jumper add?

Way to go Tunze, fix your problem by…. increasing power consumption by 33%

I got a couple 6100′s I’m using, wonder how those guys compare in this whole flow debacle, but I guess that technology is too old to support, so even if there is a problem they won’t do jack.:D

yea, but what other powerheads are out there that last as long as your 6100′s?   NONE!
i have a brown pair of 6100′s and they are still rocking.  and 1 of them will out flow my MP40 ES.
not to mention its dead silent!

A MJ1200 will stay up with a Tunze. I know some that are originals still floating around in my local club.

Also this whole notion of “dead silent” just isn’t true. Just because you can’t hear it doesn’t make it dead silent. There is power and moving parts and thus there will be noise. I can’t believe how much louder my Tunze 6015 is compared to the Koralia it replaced. Just sayin.

If dead silence is your thing, the Sicce Voyager HP pumps are dead silent – you literally have to put your ear up to the glass to make sure the pump is on. Just sayin.

There is a typo in the article… part number 6104.240 should say 6105.240

Tunze still manufactures a complete set replacement parts for these pumps.  They maintain replacement parts for discontinued models.

I don’t care for dead silence. I have a Vortech and love it. The slight white-noise doesn’t bother me.

I was just surprised when I turned on the Tunze, how loud it was. Everyone talks about silence with them but I haven’t experienced that thus far. It isn’t loud but it isn’t silent either. The water just insulates the sound.

plus one on the voyages Jake .I bought 2 the month they released the first 4 models . Been running on a timer for 2 yrs almost and still not one peep not even when switching on/off

Wait, so these motors can be run at a higher voltage without any additional wear and tear on the internals?  That seems odd.  How about a 36 volt jumper?

Most of the tunze DC range can be overclocked. Most of the guys I’ve spoken to have always run the 6105s on 24v jumpers.
One thing I love about Tunze streams is the quality of the motor blocks.
Why don’t you ask Roger Vitko nicely on RC about the 36v jumper.
