Resplendent Cherubfish is a new captive bred hybrid pygmy angelfish from Reef Culture Technologies

7

The Resplendent Cherubfish is a naturally impossible hybrid crossing of the mid-Atlantic resplendent angelfish, Centropyge resplendens, and the Caribbean cherub or pygmy angelfish, Centropyge argi. This new captive breeding handywork belongs to none other than the Xyphipops experts at Reef Culture Technologies. Since Both the cherub and resplendent angelfish are members of the Xyphipops subgenus of Centropyge pygmy angelfish, their genes are compatible and they mix well, but 3,000 miles of ocean prevents these two fish from ever getting jiggy with it in the wild.

Like the resplendent and fisher angelfish cross, the Resplendent Cherubfish cross resulted in a unique hybrid offspring which carries traits of both parents, but displays an essence all its own. Unlike the captive bred argi angelfish and captive bred crosshatch triggerfish from Reef Culture Technologies, the resplendent cherubfish will for sale but they have no plans to produce this hybrid cross again in the future, so the supply is extremely limited. American fishstores looking to get their very own resplendent cherubfish better get on the line with Quality Marine wit’ the quickness because this one of a kind fish is sure to sell out instantaneously.

Nice!! Great job! Finally a nice captive bred fish I wouldn’t mind putting in one of my tanks, and it is a very unique cross of 2 types which makes it even that much more special. Not that all the other success stories were bad, quite the opposite, just not fish I would pick for my tanks (except for maybe the Flame Angel).

Come oooooonnnn Potter’s Angel! (and any other Hawaii fish before we can no longer obtain them).

Only one problem with this gorgeous fish. It is a viable hybrid. I wish people would put as much effort into getting C. respendens and C. argi captive bred fish into the hobby.
