The Helios LED + T5 hybrid light from Giesemann may exist for only in these digital renders but they are still enough to quicken the pulse. This morning we first posted about the MATRIXplus T5 light from Giesemann which also has a bank of LEDs going across the fixture but whereas the MATRIXplus is looking really to deliver some shimmering blue light to supplement the T5 lamps, the Helios ups the ante with significantly more blue LEDs. With few concrete details to go by, judging by the rendered images we’d guess that the MATRIXplus uses one watt LEDs with just the primary optic, the best way to get that shimmer effect with LEDs, and that the Helios uses 3 watt or higher LEDs with wide angle secondary optic to optimize the direction of the light. Furthermore, the Helios struts it’s more capacious LEDs right across the center of the light fixture with room for only four additional T5 lamps. Clearly Giesemann has the right idea with this light in terms of providing the blue coloration from LEDs which are really good at it, and leaving the choice of white or colored lights (like the powerchrome aquapink) up to the end user. The Giesemann Helios uses active cooling to keep the LEDs at optimum running temperature and the powder coated enclosure will be available in 6 colors. Since this is Giesemann you can expect very precise control of both the LEDs and T5s, stay tuned for our InterZoo 210 coverage when we hope to spy the Helios LED + T5 hybrid reef aquarium light in person.
