The former Foster and Smith distribution center and corporate headquarters is listed for sale by the CBRE group. The property includes 24.29 acres and over 179,000 square feet of total space. 150,000 square feet is dedicated to a warehouse with an additional 20,000 square feet dedicated to the office and 9,000 square feet of cold storage. When Petco Acquired foster and smith back in 2014 for their large dog and cat business, they slowly moved the stock to Petco’s own logistics system and shut down the Foster & Smith brand. We are surprised it took this long to list the property but they are asking 4.7 million USD.
The listing does not include Live Aquaria’s headquarters as their building is a separate parcel and as we exclusively reported that Live Aquaria was purchased by TFI. With the departure of top talent at Live Aquaria, we expect TFI to relocate to either their California or Florida holdings although this is purely speculation. However, Reef Builders has confirmed that Tropical Fish International has merged their Florida operations under their new Live Aquaria group to streamline their new direct-to-consumer (DTC) offering.
Foster and Smiths’ former corporate headquarters includes a bevy of features although behind by today’s standard for automated pick/pack logistics systems. While not the best location the demand for distribution space has increased dramatically especially next to large metro areas.
