Luxcore metal halide lamps coming soon from Coralvue, oddly only in mogul base

By on Jul 12, 2011

The Luxcore series of metal halide lamps from Coralvue are the latest entry into the HID lighting market for reef aquarium. The Luxcore metal halide lamps are only available in a mogul base form factor in 175, 250 and 400 watt output. Luxcore lamps will be available in two colors, a 10,000 Kelvin Super Daylight lamp that is intended for fast growth of shallow water corals and a 20,000 Kelvin Ultra Marine Glow lamp which is more suitable for coloring up corals and deeper water coral species. Considering that modern metal halide users of sub 400 watt lamps overwhelmingly prefer the double ended form factor, it’s a surprise that Coralvue is bringing these lamps only in a mogul base, but they claim to still sell a good number of single ended metal halide lamps. Pricing and spectral plots have been requested and will be updated when they are available.
