Hybrid clownfish strikes again, this time it looks like a tomato x ocellaris

By on Jul 28, 2011

It’s not only special designer morph clownfish and insane man made hybrid clownfish that show the most unusual appearance in the aquarium trade, nature always has some interesting ‘crazy’ clownfish too too! Here I came up with a photograph of a clownfish that supposed to be hybrid between two species: Amphiprion ocellaris x A. frenatus.

The fish looks very odd with the mis-bar pattern on the second stripe and dark body background. The color is more pale on the forehead, ranging at the top of the mouth to the chest. This unknown weird cross is exported from the Philippines and commanding a high price in Thailand. We can’t wait to see what crazy clownfish we’ve yet to see in the future.

That color is more like a luecokranos, its gotta be a clarki complex clown and a skunk complex.

You know, I’ve seen some awesome hybrids, [insert tigerpyge], but I have yet to see a good looking anemonefish hybrid, less bonnetheads…

Amphiprion leucocranos is currently a recognized species.

I would have thought that this is clarkii x frenatus hybrid. I don’t see the ocellaris in this fish. I think it is awesome.

Maybe the clue of Ocellaris is in the black edged pelvic fins?
