Red Sea has been teasing their MAX S line of large, all-in-one marine aquariums ever since we first saw them at InterZoo 2010 in Nuremberg, Germany. As much as we’ve tried to describe the lovely Red Sea MAX S line of aquariums with pictures, graphs, details and the sort, without one to look at and get to know there’s only so much we can do. To this end Red Sea has produced a thorough overview of a Red Sea MAX S 500 with a close up look at all of the features from top to bottom. We’ve already got full-on pricing for the three sizes of the Red Sea MAX S aquariums, and a few have trickled into the country but maybe this video will wet your appetite some more for when the Red Sea MAX S sees wider distribution early next year.

It looks good! They should offer sump options for the 130 and 250 too!

As usual, neat product coming from RedSea.  Although they had sub-par components in their first offering, I do believe they’ve improved considerably with this model. That being said, their unfortunately ridiculous pricing policies make these very hard to recommend.

Everything about this says “run away FAST” to me. Seems a person can have a bigger tank custom made with a coast to coast overflow and build a better system (ie. LED lights and better equipment like skimmer, chiller, return pump, good controller) for 1/2 the cost of this setup and that would include live rock and some livestock for 1/2 the price. $4300 for a 110G tank is crazy.

Just the bulb replacement for 10 4′ T5s is going to run you $300 every 9-12 months. Seems it would be cheaper to go with MH vs using 10 T5s. There is a point were T5s become more expensive than MHs and 10 bulbs certainly pushes it over that thresh hold (slight power saving of T5HOs vs MH get offset really quickly with having to replace 10 bulbs).

Let’s not mention the stock bulbs are about as UGLY as a combo as I’ve ever seen! So on top of the ridiculous $4300 price tag throw in $250 for new bulbs.

With this system being promoted as “top of the line”, they should let you choose your bulbs!
