The fact that CORAL Magazine is sponsoring a marine aquascaping contest is indisputable proof that someone there was inspired by our post about the lack of aquascaping competitions in the marine aquarium hobby. Or maybe it was just way overdue. We are unsure what is awarded in the freshwater competitions but $10K in products for the best of show is not too shabby. The competition is announced in the first issue of CORAL Magazine, under it’s new management, which should be hitting stores shelves anyday now. Although you can get all of your reef aquarium hobby and industry news right here on Reef Builders, CORAL Mag is a very unique source of international perspectives on the hobby with it’s own well balanced blend of industry, hobby and natural environment articles. Also, unlike most regular newsstand magazines which are generally useless after about a year or so, a growing collection of CORAL is quite a useful reference. We’ve personally often reached for back issues in our collection of the last 4 years of it’s English publication. If you’re at all considering it, a 1yr subscription is currently reduced by a third off the cover price, 6 issues for $37 to US residents. More detaisl about the aquascaping contest will be revealed in the new issue and the CORAL website.
