Not content to limit themselves to the higher end custom aquarium and furniture market, Deep Sea Aquatics has just finalized their asset purchase of Ocean View Aquarium Products, Inc. From their press release Deep Sea has this to say about their new deal:
Ocean View was established in 1985 and has been family owned from day one. Long known for being a value driven company, Ocean View has earned a place in many of the independent pet stores in the south east region of the country. Over the years, Ocean View has also developed a relationship with a select number of distributors nationally to service additional customers.
Basically what this new merger means is that DSA will be well positioned to be more competitive in selling a range of different glass aquarium products all across the country, which hopefully will lead to more choice and lower prices for the aquarist. This new position by Deep Sea Aquatics, along with their still freshly inked deal to use Hagen distribution channels, shows that DSA is aggressive about coming to regional markets across the country instead of waiting for the markets to come to them. We applaud DSA for being bullish about getting their tanks into the hands of as many LFS as possible, Central Garden & Pet has had way too little competition for way too long a time.
