For the fourth year the Bay Area Marine Aquarium Conference (BAYMAC) will be delivering plenty of reefing goodness for hobbyists all over Northern California next Saturday, May 14 when the doors open for the free event at Chabot College. Since 2008 this event has grown from a cozy little event to a full-on reef show with plenty of vendors, coral slingers, speakers and fellow hobbyists to make it a worthwhile trip. More details after the break.
Held at Chabot College in Hayward, Calif., BAYMAC will feature three great speakers — Tony Vargas, Simon Garratt and Justin Credible — in addition to a great raffle with the proceeds split between the local clubs that help out with the event. If you’re looking for some awesome corals to add to your system, local clubs and coral vendors will be on hand with corals for every level of hobbyist and your budget. A solid mix of manufacturers will also be on hand showing off the latest gear for your aquarium and even local stores will be there with great prices on products.
The event happens from 11 am to 5 pm and besides being free, you even have the chance to win a $250 gift certificate to one of the participating local fish stores in the promotion. All you have to do is come through the doors and you’re automatically entered. This is a great event to bring young or beginning hobbyists to get a peek at all the cool things reefkeeping can offer.
