The DOC Skimmer 9001 is Tunze’s latest addition to the Comline range of internal marine aquarium filter devices and it is quite the little package. Due to be revealed next week at InterZoo 2014 in Nuremberg Germany, the DOC Skimmer 9001 is the culmination of more than 50 years of protein skimmer design and manufacturing.
At 2.5 watts, 4 x 2.5 x 8 inches and drawing 100 liters of air per hour, the Tunze DOC skimmer 9001 packs a concentration of performance in a protein skimmer about the size of a book. Tunze rates the DOC Skimmer 9001 for up to a 37 gallon capacity although it only needs six inches of water depth to operate.
When it launches the DOC Skimmer 9001 should retail in the neighborhood of $140 which includes a magnetic mount. The DOC Skimmer 9001 is flexible in how its pump is configured, which together with its small size should should make it a shoe-in for consideration as a drop in skimmer for a wide range of All in One mini reef aquariums.
