Red Sea’s Reefer tanks were a smash hit when they launched, and the hobby got really excited when the company teased two models later last year. As their names imply, the Reefer Peninsula and Reefer XXL are peninsular and larger sizes of the popular reef tank setups.
Peninsula tanks which are placed perpendicular to a wall have gotten especially popular in recent years, as they offer up twice the viewing area of a typical tank. Also, in the proper setting aquariums arranged in a peninsular layout can make for a beautiful, dramatic sort of room divider.
This new trend was not lost on Red Sea who will be launching not one, but two sizes of the Peninsula Reefer aquarium. Available in 42.2” long/132 gal or 63” long/173 gal versions, these 23.6” high aquariums are set on cabinets with epoxy painted finish on both sides. The cabinet includes a dedicated ventilated compartment for chiller and control systems and the doors may be assembled on either side of the cabinet to suit the layout of the room.
The new XXL REEFER™ models are full-sized reef systems that offer users one of the biggest partial AIO aquariums ever made. With 59”/166 gal or 71” long/199 gal models available, the XXL REEFERS™ give hobbyists the freedom to create more diverse reefscapes without the constraints of smaller tanks.
We don’t know how it is that Red Sea can do no wrong when it comes to their Max and Reefer series of aquariums, guess they just have the golden touch to producing what real reefers truly want in their aquariums. Pricing and exact dates have yet to be announced for the new tanks, but we’ll be sure to let you know when we find out.
