Aquatic product manufacturer Evolution Aqua has announced a £12 million capital investment deal to further grow its business. Based in the North West of England, the 20-year-old company is best known for its Nexus and Eazy Pod pond filters, Evo UVs, PURE bacteria range, and plastic bio media. But it’s also the UK distributor for marine brands Kessil, Aquaforest, and Octo.
It’s grown rapidly within that time, investing heavily in unique UK designed and built products which have then been exported around the world and led to opportunities in other water filtration markets like aquaculture and the swimming pool industry. And it’s those growing markets and EA’s patented filtration solutions that interested the UK’s most active capital growth investor, BGF.
“Over the past 20 years, Evolution Aqua has been at the forefront of water filtration technology,” said Evolution Aqua founder and CEO Nick Jackson. “We are now in a position to rapidly build on the platform we have created, which will include launching exciting new products and expanding our international presence. BGF, with its minority, patient capital approach, and flexibility, is, therefore, a perfect partner to embark on this next stage of growth.”
Pure Reef Balance
Evolution Aqua wholly produces its own bacteria range and was the first to launch live bacteria in gel balls. It manufacturers Pure Reef Balance bio balls and until recently had an aquarium business which included eaReefPro, theAquascaper, and eaFreshwater tank ranges. The aquarium side of EA’s business was acquired by D-D The Aquarium Solution in 2020, led by David Saxby.
The Evolution Aqua board will be joined by non-executive Chair David Algar, former CEO of water gardening giant Hozelock.
