The Vertex LumiLux LED striplight is a solid Cree-packin’ reef light which we first posted back in May when we first them saw at the Vertex booth at InterZoo. Today we remembered that we’re still sitting on a pile of hands-on pictures of the Lumilux which we’ve yet to completely publish. If you’ll recall, Lumilux strips are built with a modern black finished extruded aluminum housing, a pair of blue and white diodes every three inches and the striplight will be available in a myriad of sizes between 12-48?/30-120cm for some very competitive prices. The 12 inchers will be starting in the neighborhood of $70 all the way up to $250-275 for the four footers.
The first release of the Vertex Lumilux will be a basic on-off LED sriplight but future plans call for an interchangeable endcap which will have a built in controller. The Lumilux endcap controller will not only be able to control the striplight to which it is installed, but it will also be delivering bluetooth connectivity for inter-Lumilux communication and the potential for some really cool differential dimming across a bank of Lumilux strips.
The Vertex LumiLux LED striplight is an attractive product which bears a similar shape and solid build as the ReefBrite LED striplights. They were originally scheduled to release in June, which has come and gone, but we expect these to have a high rate of production when they do become available going into the busy aquarium season. Lots more pictures of the Lumilux after the break.
