While stocking up on some summer activity supplies at the local outdoor adventure store, we came across an interesting device which seems way more suited to various aquarium applications than what it was actually designed for. The Camelbak flow meter is a simple electronic tool that goes inline with your drinking hose from a back-mounted water supply. The Camelbak Flow Meter indicates how much water is left in a reservoir and the rate at which you are consuming fluid. If you have a remotely placed top off unit you could easily snap the Camelbak Flow Meter in line with your top off hose and you’ll get at-a-glance indication of how much water remains in your top off. The Camelbak flowmeter maxes out at 100 fluid ounces, about three liters which isn’t much of a top off volume except for a nano but at just $30 retail, we can imagine other dosing applications where the Camelbak Flow Meter could distinctly shine, although it probably can’t handle too chemistry going through it’s flow metering internals.
